The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced the final pickup of vegetative debris (trees, tree limbs, tree stumps) generated by Hurricane Matthew will begin on Dec. 5 on state routes in the following counties:
- Berkeley
- Clarendon
- Colleton (Including local roads within the Town of Edisto Beach)
- Darlington
- Dillon
- Dorchester (Including county roads)
- Florence (Including county roads but excludes all routes within the City of Florence)
- Georgetown (Including county roads and City of Georgetown roads)
- Hampton
- Horry (Excludes state roads within City of Conway, City of Loris, City of Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, and Town of Surfside Beach)
- Jasper
- Lee (Including county roads)
- Marion (Including county roads and streets within the City of Marion and Town of Mullins)
- Marlboro
- Orangeburg (Excludes state roads within the City of Orangeburg)
- Sumter (Including county roads and City of Sumter roads)
- Williamsburg
Residents should have vegetative storm-related debris placed beside the road prior to Dec 5. Vegetative debris not brought to the roadside by this date will have to be disposed of by the property owner. Note: bagged debris or normal yard waste will not be included in this pickup.
Vegetative debris includes limbs, trees and stumps that were damaged by Hurricane Matthew. This does not include flood-related debris such as stoves, refrigerators, and other large appliances, electronic waste, construction and demolition (C&D) debris. There will be additional pickups for flood-related debris in the counties where flooding occurred. However, this operation will be limited to only the areas that suffered from flooding.
