FLORENCE COUNTY
Emergency management officials with Florence County say FEMA will open a Disaster Recovery Center beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25 at the ROB Building at 245 S. Church St. in Lake City. The center will be open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
FEMA will also have Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams at the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library at 509 S. Dargen Street in Florence from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday, for the next two weeks.
Representatives from FEMA will be at these locations to explain disaster assistance programs and help survivors apply for aid. If possible, people should register with FEMA online at DisasterAssistance.gov or call the helpline at 800-621-3362 before visiting a recovery center.
Federal and state disaster assistance for eligible individuals and families can include money for temporary rental assistance and essential home repairs for primary residences and help with other serious disaster-related losses not covered by insurance.WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY
Beginning Monday, Williamsburg County emergency officials say FEMA will open a disaster recovery center at 2086 Thurgood Marshall Highway in Kingstree. The center will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents are encouraged to apply for assistance by phone at 1-800-621- FEMA or in person.
The county emergency management division also announced that the American Red Cross will be at 2084 Thurgood Marshall Highway 9-5 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to help people with immediate needs as a result of Hurricane Matthew.
