CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – In a press conference Thursday, US Attorney Sherri Lydon announced a takedown this week targeting Horry county gang members involved in a federal drug trafficking conspiracy.
The indictment unsealed Thursday morning included 46 counts against 27 different defendants. All but three of those suspects were rounded up Wednesday with help from 125 different law enforcement agents from a dozen different agencies. The FBI is still actively looking for Christopher Kayvon Giddens of Longs, Rondric Tykeme Smith of Conway and Katelyn Anne Stetler of Little River.
US Attorney Lydon says the covert operation began in 2017 and targeted “G-Shine,” a gang in the Horry County community. The group was formerly known as the “Gangster Killer Bloods”, a gang that evolved from United Blood Nation. Agents used undercover surveillance, confidential source information, and other techniques to establish the agreement between coconspirators to sell various drugs.
The indictment charges the defendants with forming an agreement to distribute heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana and charges several with the actual distribution of these drugs and the use of “wireless communications devices” to further the organization’s drug trafficking activity.
“We will spare no resources to make sure this community is safe,” US Attorney Lydon said Thursday in the press conference. “Myrtle Beach has the full attention of federal law enforcement.”
Horry County Sheriff Phillip Thompson also spoke at the press conference and expressed his appreciation for the help from the US Attorneys Office.
Horry County Police Chief Joseph Hill also spoke, and had a message for the remaining three suspects on the loose.
“My talk to them is ‘turn yourself in.’ Do it as soon as possible because if not were gonna come looking for you. Early in the morning, at night, when those stores are closing, uh, those footprints you hear, those strange noises, will be us stalking you,” said Chief Hill.

The suspects arrested Wednesday were indicted in federal court in Florence Wednesday afternoon. The suspects already in state custody will make their first appearance before a judge Friday.
