HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – More than 100 classic cars were on display in Hartsville on Saturday as drivers showcased their vintage vehicles at an auto show hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
About 150 cars were parked in the lot at the old Bi-Lo shopping plaza. People from all over the east coast stopped by to check them out. Majority of them were just for show but some were for sale. Organizers of the event say they were pleased with the turnout and the support from the community.
“We thought we’d do a fundraiser with our car show. Some of the guys here in the community’s been involved in car shows in the past and thought it’d be a good way to just make the connection here in the Pee Dee area,” said Daniel Henderson, area representative for Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
They also tell us this was the Fellowship of Christians Athletes’ first auto show fundraiser in the nation.
“No one has ever attempted to raise money for FCA with a car show. So we’re excited. God has really blessed us. We had a little bit of may showers but it came and gone as you can see. The beautiful sunshine. And we’ve had a lot of fun,” said Director of the FCA in the Pee Dee John Bootsie Griggs.
Their goal was to raise $20,000. All of the proceeds will go to schools in the Pee Dee.
