MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Two mobile homes were damaged by a fire in Myrtle Beach Tuesday afternoon.
According to Horry County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Brian Van Aernem, the two homes, located on Strand Drive in Myrtle Beach, are heavily damaged. Van Aernem says the call came in at 5:54 p.m. and both homes were fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene, but the cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
Three people were inside one of the homes when the fire started, Van Aernem confirms, but they were able to escape out the back door of the house before anyone was hurt.
A family member of those who lost their home in Tuesday’s fire says the family has two young boys, a 3-week-old infant and a 19-month-old, who are in need of diapers, formula and clothing. Anyone who may have donations for the family can reach the children’s grandmother, Becky, by texting 843-446-8240.
Two dogs died in the fire, confirms Van Aernem. Fire crews remain on scene Tuesday evening to ensure flames in both homes are completely extinguished.
