LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – Robeson County officials  say a man was turned over to the sheriff’s office Thursday in connection to a 2015 murder.

Deputies with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1697 Happy Hill Road in Fairmont in reference to a burglary and arson on August 24, 2015 around 9:12 a.m. When investigators entered the home, they found Patricia Dawn Hill, 66,  deceased.

In May 2016, evidence led investigators to identify the suspect as Zabiane Laquris Williams who lived in Fairmont. Williams was located in June 2016 at Trenton Correctional Institute in South Carolina.

On Thursday, Williams was released from Trenton Correctional Center and turned over to Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division.  Williams was charged with 1st degree murder, 1st degree rape, 1st degree arson, 1st degree burglary and felonious larceny.

He is currently being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
