MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – You can’t change the weather – but you can be prepared for it.
With hurricane season upon us, Nexstar is debuting a new weekly digital weather program, Eye On The Storm.
Every Wednesday at 8 p.m., CBS 17 Storm Team meteorologists will be joined by weather teams from other Atlantic Storm markets to keep you up to date on hurricane preparations.
We take you through hurricane season, beginning June 12 through October.
On July 3’s show, CBS 17 Chief Meteorologist Bill Reh will be joined by meteorologists from Nexstar stations in Rhode Island and Columbus, Georgia.
The special includes:
- A current look at the tropics including satellite views and anything that might have the potential to develop and a few facts of the season so far.
- A map showing the normal development areas in July across the Atlantic basin
- A discussion on the El Nino forecast showing how El Nino is still expected to remain with us through possibly the rest of the season.
- An interview with Dr. Xie from N.C. State and his prediction of El Nino keeping the hurricane numbers lower than last year
