CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Extra law enforcement is being staffed at Conway Middle School on Wednesday due to a threat made by a student the day before.

The school’s principal, Regina Treadwell Pertell, sent parents a letter on Tuesday night notifying them of the threat. A threat made by a student was overheard by another student, Pertell wrote in the letter.

After school administration heard about the threat, the parents of all students involved were contacted, Pertell said. The student who made the threat is facing disciplinary actions.

Pertell said extra law enforcement will be at the school on Wednesday “out of an abundance of caution.”

Conway police are investigating the threat and confirmed additional law enforcement is there.

School officials would not comment further on the incident at this time.
