CONWAY (WBTW) — Horry County and S.C.D.O.T. leaders re-opened Enterprise Road near Socastee after it was shut down for nine months while crews built the overpass over what will be the extension of S.C. Highway 31.

The closure caused more delays on S.C. Highway 707, which is also under construction, and caused commuters, school buses, and construction traffic to find a longer way around to each side of Enterprise, which connects with Hwy. 707 near Turtle Market and S.C. 544 and south at Bay Road.

Enterprise Road was closed last September so the overpass over Hwy. 31 could be built.  It’s part of the $190 million, four-mile extension of Hwy. 31 from Hwy. 544 to Hwy. 707.

That extension should open next summer.
