FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW)- “Empowered To Heal” held a Raising Awareness Against Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Assault event at Trinity Baptist Church in Florence Saturday.

The goal was to bring families together. Organizers with “Empowered to Heal” say victims can suffer sleeplessness, depression, low self-esteem and anger.

“We want to let the women know that you do have the help and the support and so we wanna make sure that they know that self care is important. Cause as the saying goes: if Mamas not happy the family’s not happy. So we wanna make sure that the family is happy,” Executive Director Jennifer Guiles Robinson said.

Facilitators for Empowered to Heal are not licensed therapists. They are trained facilitators and life journey guides who assist in helping survivors meet life goals. They also work closely with area counselors if there is a request for psychological care in a survivor’s journey.
