Employees of Florence School District One were welcomed back for a new school year on Monday with a Back to School Celebration.

A press release from the district says over 2,300 employees gathered at the Florence Center on Monday morning. Superintendent Dr. Richard O’Malley shared the district’s 2018-19 goals and welcomed employees back.

Author and motivational speaker Dr. Steve Constantino, Teacher of the Year Megerlyn Davis, school board chairman Barry Townsend, and students also spoke during the celebration, the release says.

“The core message here is that we are Florence School District One united behind one mission, one goal, and that’s student achievement and putting students first. We’ve got a great enthusiasm for all of our staff and we’ve got an exciting year filled with innovative projects and just great, great, teaching and learning which will be happening throughout our school district,” said Dr. O’Malley.

The first day of school for Florence School District One is August 20, according to the district’s website.
