CHARLESTON, SC — A judge has decided to make a competency hearing closed to the public in the Charleston Church shooting case.
A competency hearing for admitted shooter Dylann Roof will be held on Monday, November 21, at 9 a.m. According to an order, the move is to “provide the parties with adequate time to study the court-appointed examiner’s report.”
Judge Gergel has ordered that the hearing is closed to the public. Jury selection is scheduled to resume November 28.
Gergel invited the public and media to register objections to the closing of hearing, in a session at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 17, at the Charleston courthouse.
