MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Two people have been arrested after a man was found shot inside a public restroom in Myrtle Beach and later died at the hospital, according to Myrtle Beach police.

Terence Isacc Blackwell and Earl Rafel Gaddis, Jr, both of Spring Lake, North Carolina, have been charged with murder and other weapons charges. Blackwell was also charged with fugitive of justice. Gaddis Jr. also faces drug charges.

Captain Joey Crosby says around 11:29 p.m. Thursday night, officers reported hearing gunshots in the area of 12th Ave N near Ocean Boulevard. Officers arrived on scene “in a matter of seconds” because of close proximity and discovered a man in the public restroom at 1104 Withers Alley. It was apparent the man had been shot and officers immediately provided medical aid.

First responders arrived and the victim was transported to the hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries, confirms Capt. Crosby. The victim has been identified as Sylvester Bellamy, of Georgetown.

After reviewing city surveillance video footage, officers located images of possible suspects. At approximately 11:51 p.m., images of the potential suspects were provided to officers, Capt. Crosby says. Officers immediately began a search for the suspects.

At approximately 12:29 a.m., officers found the suspects walking with other people near 29th Ave N and Kings Hwy. Capt. Crosby says everyone in the group was detained for questioning. After further investigation, two of the suspects were arrested, and warrants are being sought for their involvement in the fatal shooting.

While the suspects’ names have not been released, Capt. Crosby confirms both are from North Carolina. After warrants are served, their identity and charges will be released.

Despite it’s proximity to the event, the shooting has no connection with the Carolina Country Music Festival, police confirm.

Both men will appear before a judge Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Myrtle Beach.
