Teams took to the water Saturday for the 7th Annual Dragon Boat Festival at the Market Common.
The Myrtle Beach non profit “Ground Zero” organized the race.
Teams of 20 paddlers raced against each other for the fastest time, competing for bragging rights; and to help raise money for the charity.
Kimberly McLemb of the Pink Ladies team says she also raced to raise awareness for gun safety, a topic close to her heart, “I’m part of the Michael Bellamy Project, my 11 year old cousin actually passed away. There was an unsecured arm in a home of a friend and it was something that could have been prevented.”
News13 had a team participate that made it to the final round of the competition.
