Dozens of trucks with Confederate flags drive through SC town

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCBD) — Dozens of trucks with the Confederate Flag flying from the back met in Summerville Saturday afternoon.

The group of Confederate Flag supporters met at Heritage Square before driving around the Lowcountry, saying they are riding for the heritage of South Carolina.CLICK HERE for more photos

“Everyone has this misconception of the Confederate Flag,” said Andru Barker, one of the supporters. “It’s part of the history. You can’t take back history. Since the state capitol won’t let us fly the flag, why can’t we?”

“For me it’s about Summerville heritage,” said Justin Lane. “None of this is about racism.

“None of us are racist out here whatsoever. We just all love the flag – love the fact that it means pride.”

“This is my heritage, and I’m going to fly it until the day I die,” said Matt Rabon.
