DILLON, SC (WBTW) – A Dillon man is in police custody charged with the murder of a 5-year-old girl.
Captain Cliff Arnette with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office says Marquis Antoine McRae, 20, of Dillon, was arrested in Winston Salem, NC on Wednesday. McRae is charged with the murder of 5-year-old Perla Azucena Banuelos-Allende.
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley says the little girl died from a gunshot wound.
Captain Arnette said the shooting happened on Lester Road around 2 a.m. Saturday morning. The little girl was killed and two adults were seriously injured. The sheriff’s office announced the first arrest in connection with the shooting on Monday. Lakiesha Shanae Martin, 24, of Latta, is charged with attempted murder for shooting one of the victims, Capt. Arnette confirms.
McRea is being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center in Winston Salem. The accused child killer is awaiting an extradition hearing to determine when he will be transferred to Dillon.
