ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WBTW) – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office arrested one man in connection to the death of a 21-year-old found shot in a convenience store parking lot Wednesday.

Maj. Anthony Thompson, spokesman for the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, says deputies were dispatched to R/S Food Mart on N. Fifth St. on Wednesday just after 10:30 p.m. When they got there, they found a man dead inside of a vehicle parked on the side of the store.

Thompson identified the victim as Jhamel Leonard, 21, of St. Pauls, NC.

Investigators allege Leonard was shot during an argument over a gun on Alford Road in St. Pauls.

Thompson says David McAllister, 24, of St. Pauls, turned himself into the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. Deputies charged him with first degree murder. He remains in custody at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
