Deputies: Florence teen jailed on armed robbery, drug charges

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Florence County deputies charged a 17-year-old in connection to a reported armed robbery on March 14.

Donald Dayquan Smith, 17, of Florence, was booked into the Florence County Detention Center early Sunday morning on a drug and armed robbery charge, according to the facility’s website.

Maj. Mike Nunn, spokesman for the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, says investigators believe Smith robbed a victim at gunpoint near Tara Drive and East Candy Lane on March 14.

“Smith was located on March 20 and taken into custody on that warrant,” Nunn told News13. “When Smith was taken into custody, he is also alleged to have been in possession of controlled substances.”

A judge issued Smith a $50,000 bond for the armed robbery charge and a $3,000 bond on the possession of controlled substances charge.

Nunn says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
