FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The Florence County Sheriff’s Office charged a 25-year-old man in connection to a convenience store parking lot stabbing Wednesday.

According to a department report, deputies responded to Interstate Convenience, located at 1832 W. Lucas. St., just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived on scene, they found a man on the floor of the convenience store applying pressure to a wound on his neck.

The victim told Florence County deputies he was walking through the parking lot when a man approached him from behind and stabbed him in the neck. The report further stated a witness told deputies the suspect ran from the area towards the Thunderbird Hotel.

A nearby Florence Police officer took the suspect into custody in connection to the incident, according to the official report.

Maj. Mike Nunn, spokesman for the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, says Mark Scott Samson, 25, was charged with attempted murder. A judge granted him a $5,000 surety bond.

No word on the condition of the victim. Deputies say he was taken to McLeod Regional Medical Center for treatment.
