MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) – A compromise between military veterans and the city of Myrtle Beach will allow for a march on Ocean Boulevard on Memorial Day.

The Sun News reports the city is working with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association to accommodate a march on May 25.

City spokesman Mark Kruea said the compromise came out of talks with veterans upset about a change in the date of the observance.

Many veterans throughout the Grand Strand said they were upset by Myrtle Beach moving the Military Appreciation Days parade from the Saturday before Memorial Day to May 16.

City officials have said they moved the parade to accommodate Vietnam War veterans who requested the city honor the 50th anniversary of the war in conjunction with Armed Forces Day.
