The deadline for a refund after a 2017 lottery error is fast approaching.
South Carolina lottery officials say people affected by the 2017 Holiday Cash Add-a-play error have until January 7, 2019 to claim a refund.

A press release says players should mail their original Holiday Cash Add-A-Play tickets (no copies or other reproductions will be accepted) depicting nine “Tree” symbols purchased on or after 5:51(17:51) P.M. on December 25, 2017 to this address for a refund:

You should include your name and return address.
The press release also says the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) will refund the purchase price for each returned ticket and reimburse the player for postage up to the amount of first class USPS postage for the ticket(s) submitted to SCEL.
Lottery officials ask that players mail in all tickets to avoid wait time at the Claims Center, since the reimbursements will require manual processing.
The SCEL Board of Commissioners voted to reimburse the purchase price paid by each Holiday Cash Add-A-Play ticketholder bought on December 25, 2017 on or after 5:51 p.m. after an independent, impartial analysis revealed these tickets were produced or issued in error.
