DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd has rehired two employee who he fired in May.
The employees, who have not been named, served as Captains for the office when they bought items while in uniform and using a county vehicle for Byrd’s re-election campaign.
Bryd said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) investigated the case and found no criminal or ethics violations.
News13 has requested reports on the investigation from SLED.
Byrd said his rehiring the two employees is not a precedent because he rehired 3 of the 6 employees he fired in 2012 during a similar incident.
