DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – Some Darlington police officers take time to give back to their community. The Darlington Police Department’s, Blue Saints program began a community initiative to build rails and ramps for senior citizens. The program started with four officers that want to volunteer their time to give back.
This week the group built rails for a Darlington home. While donating their time they hope to bridge the gap between the community and the police department.
Lieutenant Kim Nelson said, “They wanted to do something that put their stamp on the community, so they came up with this project to help the elderly build ramps for their homes.”
They plan to build two ramps in the upcoming weeks along with other programs the police department is working on.
