DARLINGTON, S.C. (PRESS RELEASE) – On 2/7/2015, at approximately 1:37PM, the Darlington Police Department received a call from a mother on St. Johns Street in reference to her missing 14-year-old daughter. The mother stated that the child had taken the trash out early in the day and had not returned.
The mother stated that the family had just moved to town and the teenager did not know anyone. The Darlington Sheriff’s Department’s dog team was called in to aid in the search. After a brief search of the area the teenager was located without incident.
While investigating the incident officers discovered that the teenager and her brother, age 7, were living in conditions that were unfit. The Department of Social Services was contacted on behalf of the children. The house was covered with dog feces in every room even in the beds, dirty dishes were piled high in the sink, and piles of dirty clothes and trash was throughout the house.
The mother, Tina Segui, age 34 and her boyfriend, Brian Talbott, age 25 were arrested and each of them were charged with two counts of Unlawful Neglect of a Child. The subjects were booked into the Darlington County Detention Center without incident. The Darlington Police Department would like to thank the Darlington Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
