Cloudy skies and rain didn’t stop hundreds from walking to help fight cancer.
The Relay for Life of Darlington County took place Friday evening now at Emmanuel Christian School in Hartsville.
The event not only celebrates survivors and remembers those lost to cancer, but it raises money for cancer research.
“It doesn’t matter, cancer lives on… and so because cancer lives on, I plan to relay on as long as I can relay,” mentioned Joann Pugh, 18-year breast cancer survivor.
In addition to the relay in Hartsville, other relays took place at Dillon Motor Speedway, Chesterfield High School, the Lee County Parks and Recreation field in Bishopville and West Brunswick High School in Shallotte.
On Saturday, a relay runs from 10:00 a.m. until 10 p.m. at barefoot landing in North Myrtle Beach and another starts at noon at Loris High School.
