A Darlington County man pleaded guilty and received a prison sentence on drug and gun charges.

According to a press release from the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Jonathan Walrath, 36, of Darlington, pleaded guilty to trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a stolen pistol on Thursday.

Walrath pleaded guilty to the charges before Circuit Court Judge George M. McFaddin, Jr., the release says. Walrath was sentenced to eight years in prison for the trafficking methamphetamine charge and five years for the possession of a stolen pistol charge. The sentences will run concurrently.

On May 7, officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department stopped Walrath’s vehicle and found he was driving with a suspended driver’s license, according to the release. A stolen handgun, 30 grams of methamphetamine, and 100 rounds of ammunition were found during a search of the vehicle.

“Thank you to the Myrtle Beach Police Department for their great work in this case,” said Gray Ervin, the assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case.
