DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – As an investigation into a string of drive by shootings continues, the question remains as to whether the crime is gang related.

Last month 24 year-old Christopher Jackson and 23 year-old Quavius Rogers died in an overnight crash on Patrick Highway in Chesterfield county after a car they were driving had been shot.

According to Hartsville Police, moments before the crash happened a home on Sumter Avenue in Hartsville was shot at multiple times by a moving vehicle., according to hartsville police.

Since then, Darlington County deputies have responded to two drive by shootings in the area.

On March 4th deputies found multiple bullet holes and shell casings at a home and in cars parked in front of a home on Franway Drive in Darlington County.

Forty-eight hours after that incident, deputies were called to a home on Marcus Drive in Hartsville where a third drive by shooting happened but no one there was hurt.

Deputies are investigating all three shooting incidents as likely related. Lt. Robert Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office says the shootings looked like targeted attacks by gang members.

“Looking into it, we are obviously looking at the possible gang aspect but as far as this in particular, our investigators are working closely together. Our guys are out there doing things, we can’t speak on what they’re doing in particular because we don’t want to jeopardize the ongoing investigation and release too much of our tactics,” explained Lt. Kilgo.

Lt. Robert Kilgo with Darlington County Sherriff’s Office says a task force consisting of members of the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, Hartsville Police Department, Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, and federal agents has determined that three shootings are all working together on the three shootings.
