NASCAR’s most popular driver made the most of his week off from the grueling 36-race schedule this week by taking a trip to Europe–and popping the question to his girlfriend.
Twitter posts from both Amy Reimann and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. early Wednesday morning confirm the two are now engaged, and her tweet included a picture of the couple posing presumably inside a church during their visit to Germany.
Reimann tweeted: “I’m completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much (Dale).
Earnhardt tweeted: “Looking forward to the rest of my life with this amazing girl.”
NASCAR.com reported last week that Earnhardt and Reimann planned to travel to Germany to trace his ancestors and to sight-see. Earnhardt, already a winner in the early part of this season at Talladega, finished second on Sunday at Michigan.
The Sprint Cup Series is off this weekend and will resume June 28 at Sonoma Raceway in California.
Earnhardt is 40 years old and has 24 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins in his career, including two Daytona 500 wins in 2004 and 2014.
