Crews respond to condo fire in North Myrtle Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue responded to a fire at a  condo building Monday morning.

According to the department’s Facebook post, crews responded to the fire in the 4500 block of south ocean boulevard just after midnight. The first firefighting crew on the scene found significant fire underneath the building that had spread to the underside of one of the 1st-floor units that was spreading up the exterior wall. The post says the ocean breeze was allowing the fire to spread rapidly.

All occupants were safely evacuated from the building as crews worked to contain the fire and smoke damages. Once overhaul was completed, those living in the non-affected units were allowed to return to the building.Families living in burned or smoke damaged units were relocated by property management to other units and crews assisted them in moving their belongings, the post explains.

The majority of crews began clearing the scene shortly after 2 a.m.
