PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – According to Midway Fire Rescue Chief Dough Eggiman, a single family home on the South Causeway was badly damaged by a fire Monday afternoon.

There were no injuries and no one was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters did rescue and resuscitate a dog on the scene and take the animal to a local vet.

Crews from Midway Fire, Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire, City of Georgetown Fire, Horry County Fire Rescue, and Surfside Fire were on scene for just under three hours.

The fire was believed to be accidental, but officials have not yet learned what caused the incident.
