NORTH MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) -The North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety advised drivers to stay clear of a crash on Highway 31 Sunday afternoon.
According to the release, all southbound lanes were shut down near mile mark six as of 6:17 p.m.
Just after 6pm, crews were alerted to a motor vehicle accident involving multiple vehicles on Hwy 31 South near mile marker 6. Initial reports were possible entrapment, ejection and possibly one vehicle on fire, according to a Facebook post on the fire department’s page. Due to these reports extra apparatus were added to the call.
Crews arrived and found three vehicles with significant damage blocking two lanes of southbound Hwy 31. Command updated that there was no entrapment, one patient ejected and no fire.
Crews assisted HCFR Medics in patient triage and packaging those who needed transport for further evaluation.
Hwy 31 Southbound Traffic was temporarily detoured to Robert Edge Parkway as traffic began to back up in the area. Crews remained on scene assisting in traffic control until vehicles were removed from the roadway.
