DILLON, SC (WBTW) – A crash in Dillon County killed a passenger in a pickup truck and sent the driver to the hospital.
South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins says the wreck happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on Lucius Road, south of the City of Dillon.
Cpl. Collins says the driver of a 2000 Chevy pickup headed east, ran off the right side of the road and overturned. Emergency responders took the driver to a local hospital.
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley identified the victim as 23-year-old Crystal Ward of Dillon. Troopers say the passenger who was killed was not wearing a seat belt.
According to Grimsley, the woman is scheduled for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The crash remains under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol.
