A crash in Myrtle Beach Wednesday afternoon  backed up traffic for more than an hour.

It happened shortly after 3:20 in the southbound lanes of the 17 Bypass near Harrelson Boulevard and involved several vehicles.

Rescue crews had to remove one person from a vehicle and took that individual, and at least two others, away by ambulance.

The number of victims is unknown at this time.

No official word on the cause of the crash.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The South Carolina Highway Patrol previously reported a fatality in this accident. Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirmed to News13 Wednesday evening no one was killed.
