MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A Georgia couple was arrested over the weekend after police said they stole merchandise from a lingerie store on Valentine’s night while leaving a 5-year-old child locked in a cold car.

According a Myrtle Beach police report, Amanda Nicole Savage, 24, and Gary Lee Savage, 26, of Elberton, GA stole sex toys and lubricants from Priscilla’s Lingerie Store on Kings Highway Sunday night around 11 p.m.

Store workers called police to the scene after the sensor alarm at the front door went off, the report said.

When police arrived, they found the couple’s 5-year-old child inside their car with very cold temperatures outside.  Workers told police the couple was inside the store “for a while.”  According to the Stormtracker13 Weather Center, the temperature in Myrtle Beach at this time was 36 degrees.

The couple told police they had been staying at a nearby hotel, but no one by their name was listed as staying there, the report said.

Police said the car was dirty inside and looked as if they had been living in it.

The couple was charged with cruelty to children and shoplifting.
