CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) – A young man and a teen CCU student, who are a couple, were charged in connection with the murder of the young man’s parents at a Myrtle Beach resort on Friday evening.
Myrtle Beach Police Lieutenant Joey Crosby says Alexander Gray Turner and his girlfriend Chelsi Leila Griffin, both of Conway, were arrested in connection with the double homicide and charged with murder.
Meanwhile, the Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the victim’s in, what police called, the “domestically related homicide” as Carrie Daley Turner, 52, and Steven Gray Turner, 61 of Durham, NC. Carrie and Steven are Turner’s parents.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says the victims died of “gunshot wound injuries” at the Landmark Resort.
In addition to 23-year-old Alexander Turner and 19-year-old Griffin, Myrtle Beach Police arrested and charged Grant Anthony Dollens, of Columbia, and Roxanna Lisa Cumpan, of Potstown, Pennsylvania with accessory after the fact.
Dollens and Griffin are enrolled at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, said Martha Hunn, Director of News and Public Affairs at Coastal Carolina University.
On Monday, Turner made a first appearance and had bond set for a weapons charge at $50,000. However, a circuit court judge must set his bond — if any — on the murder charge. That appearance is schedule for May 22 in Conway court.
Griffin’s first appearance was reschedule for 9 am Tuesday, while her attorney makes plans to attend.
The announcement comes after a search warrant was executed at the Monarch Apartment Complex off of Highway 544 near Coastal Carolina University.
Alexander Turner was previously arrested March 4 in Horry County on charges of unlawfully carrying a pistol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrests come after Lieutenant Selena Small, with the Conway Police Department, said Conway Police and Horry County Police were on the scene of the Monarch Apartments off of Highway 544.
She said residents of the complex were asked to leave their apartments and go to the apartment complex’s common area. That order has since been lifted.
Arrests warrants said Turner and Griffin were found with numerous guns and used Carrie and Steven Turner’s credit card after killing them.
