MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WBTW)- On Wednesday the Georgetown County Public Services Department scheduled a meeting to discuss the present plans for an inlet dredging project slated to begin this fall.
A press release from the county said the meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 at the Murrells Inlet Community Center on Murrells Inlet Road. County officials and others involved in the project will be available to review the project plans and answer questions.
The main component of the project will address dredging the areas that belong to the Army Corps of Engineers, and also includes a “beach renourishment element” where sand from the dredging will be redeposited on Garden City Beach.
The second component of the project includes dredging the access channels Georgetown County is required to maintain.
All members of the community are invited to attend the Thursday night meeting.
