Join News13’s community initiative, Count On Kids, to help us collect school supplies and benefit local non-profit Backpack Buddies!
You can drop off school supplies August 9-11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at locations either in Myrtle Beach or the Pee Dee.
Myrtle Beach locations include all five of the Ripley’s attractions: Aquarium, Believe It Or Not, Mirror Maze, 5D Moving Theater, Haunted House. If you make a donation, you will receive half off single day admission at that Ripley’s attraction.
If you choose to drop off supplies at the Darlington Raceway, you will also receive a discounted ticket.
Backpack Buddies is a 100 percent volunteer organization that relies solely on donations. The organization believes that children should not go to school hungry or without proper clothing, shoes or school supplies and also that going to school prepared will help them learn and be better able to finish school and go beyond the cycle of poverty into which they were born.
Backpack Buddies requests items including backpacks, crayons, glue sticks, wide ruled paper, black marble composition books, pencils, pens, erasers, highlighters, markers and folders.
