GALIVANTS FERRY, SC (WBTW) – The body of a missing woman was recovered from a crash scene Friday afternoon in Galivants Ferry.
Horry County Deputy Coroner, Tony Hendrick says Brittany N. Floyd, 28, from Galivants Ferry died on scene. Hendrick says the cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy that is scheduled for Saturday at MUSC. Hendrick says results are expected to take between 6-8 weeks.
According to Horry County Police, officers responded to an accident on Pee Dee Road, where they discovered Floyd inside the vehicle. Officers say no foul play is suspected.
South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Judd Jones said the woman was driving north in a 2000 Ford Mustang when she ran off the left side of the road into a creek.
Horry County Fire Rescue dive teams were used to assist law enforcement agencies in pulling the car from the ditch in Galivants Ferry Friday afternoon.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
