MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened on US 17 Bypass in Myrtle Beach Sunday evening.

Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol says a pedestrian attempted to cross US 17 Bypass just after 8 p.m. Sunday when the victim was struck by two vehicles.  Jones says the drivers of the vehicles were heading South on the bypass when the first car, a 2007 Toyota struck the pedestrian.  Shortly after, the pedestrian was also hit by a second vehicle a 2005 Ford.

The drivers of both vehicles were not treated for any injuries.

According to the Highway Patrol website, the crash happened around 8:06 p.m., in front of the Airport Diner and Shetland Lane in Myrtle Beach.

Monday afternoon, Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard identified the victim as 42-year-old Humberto Ventura Salas. Williard says Salas was from Mexico, but was living in Socastee. The coroner confirmed that he died at the scene from multiple traumatic injuries.
