FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – One person is dead after being struck and killed by a vehicle in Florence County.
Lance Corporal Judd Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol says it happened Tuesday around 8 p.m. on Spring Branch Road.
He says a car driven by 46-year-old Rebecca Cook was headed east and hit someone who was in the road.
On Wednesday, Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the victim as 65-year-old Richard Earl Dowdy of Pamlico. The victim died on scene as a result of his injuries, Lutcken said.
Cook was charged with driving under the influence. A judge set her bond at just over $1,000 or a $3,000 security bond.
The highway patrol is still investigating.
