MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the two boaters killed following a boating accident on Lake Moultrie.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury says Jake Williams, 51, of Summerville and Nathaniel Hawkins, 46, of North Charleston were both were thrown from a boat that made a turn on Lake Moultrie on Saturday, July 23.

The Berkeley County Rescue Squad, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and several local fire departments searched Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for the pair.

Both bodies were recovered Monday, July 25, 2016. Both deaths were ruled accidental by drowning.

The boat captain, Jacque Warren Bracewell,  is charged with boating under the influence. He has been granted a surety bond of $20,000.

The accident is under investigation by DNR.
