CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Two Conway High School students are using a class assignment to get the community involved in making Christmas a little brighter for children at McLeod Hospital.
The students behind the project, Zoe Lewis and Taylor Crocker, are collecting new stuffed animals to be delivered to kids spending Christmas in the hospital.
“We are fortunate enough to have good health and be able to help other people in the community. We wanted to help children who are being treated at McLeod over the holiday,” organizer Taylor Crocker said.
Zoe and Taylor’s leadership class teacher says the Stuffed for Love project quickly developed into more than just an assignment.
“I’m very proud of my students. This started out as an assignment where they could have just done the minimum, and gotten their grade, but they actually had so much passion for this project and got deeply involved in what they were doing,” Conway High School teacher Sarah Smith said.
“When I was first presented with this idea, the Stuffed with Love campaign, I was first of all impressed with the students’ compassion and willingness to want to give back to the community, and recognize this need,” Conway High School Principal Lee James said.
Zoe and Taylor have donation boxes at five different drop-off spots. All donations must be brand new and still have a tag attached.

The last day to donate is Dec. 16, and stuffed animals will be delivered to the children at McLeod Hospital Dec. 17.
