Conway stores say they can’t keep CCU gear on the shelves

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Before fans lined the streets in  Conway to welcome the home the Chants, many filled stores Friday trying to grab CCU gear.

Inside the HTC center on Coastal’s campus, the stores were filled with people grabbing last minute items on Friday,

BJ Riesland was one of those fans, and she says after Thursday’s exciting game, she’s now a self-proclaimed “bandwagon fan”.

“I retired from UNC, so I was a Tar Heel, but, yeah, the Chants, they got me, they got me yesterday, and I am now a fan,” laughed Riesland.

Friday, 14-year-old Caleb Ledford says he’s been to the school’s bookstore everyday for two weeks and has spent more than $300 on CCU gear.

“I’ve just been waiting on these boys to win it for a very long time, and they finally did,” said Ledford.

Fans who were out buying their merchandise say it’s money well spent because you can’t put a price tag on Thursday’s win.

“Any team that has that much heart, that much heart, how can you not be a fan,” said Riesland.

Many people say they’re searching for the CWS National Championship t-shirts. The managers at the HTC center say those shirts will be in Saturday, July 2nd at the earliest. Items are available for pre-order online at CoastalCarolinaShop.com.
