CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Blythewood man is behind bars after a woman flagged down a Conway police officer around 2 a.m. Saturday morning outside of an apartment complex.
According to Lt. Selena Small, an officer was patrolling the area of 642 Highway 544, near Monarch Apartments, when a woman flagged him down claiming she had been assaulted and held against her will. The woman told police that the suspect, Franklin Chimento Meaux, 20, of Blythewood, has become aggressive and wouldn’t allow her to leave her apartment.
Meaux’s criminal record, according to J. Reuben Long online booking records, includes an arrest in September 2015 for beer and wine purchase, consumption or possession by a minor and giving false information to law enforcement. An arrest in April 2015 brought charges of violation of paraphernalia, trespassing, manufacturing or possession of a schedule I, II, or III drug, drug distribution near a school, and possession of other controlled substance.
Officers arrested Meaux and charged him with assault and battery and kidnapping. Meaux was released from jail on a $30,000 bond.
