CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The father of a murder victim in December says he’s worried after the release of one of three men suspected of killing his son.
Jimmie Gause says his son Jahi Mishoe was a family man.
“He was a community guy,” Gause said. “I raised Jahi from a baby. He is the brother of a sister. He was the parent of a young child.”
Mishoe graduated from Conway High School and went to South Carolina State University, before working towards a career as an electrical engineer.
“He was working at Conbraco (Industries), a 9-to-5 job making good money,” said Gause.
Gause says he was shocked when he heard his 22-year-old son was shot and killed on December 2 on Willow Road in Conway.
“When you lose one of your vessels, it’s hard,” Gause said. “I haven’t been the same since.”
One of the three men accused of murdering Mishoe, 25-year-old Joshua Spain, posted a $170,000 bond Thursday. The Horry County jail says he’ll be released with an ankle monitoring device. Records show Spain has been arrested before on assault, hit-and-run, weapons and drug charges.
Another man accused of murder, 20-year-old Rayquan Bennett, was released on $250,000 bond in February.
“I don’t think they should have made bail,” Gause said. “Their bond should have been even higher than what it was.”
Gause says he wants Mishoe’s story to be heard and he wants justice for his son.
“He didn’t deserve it, period,” said Gause. “Why (did it happen)? I don’t know. That is a big why, but he didn’t deserve what happened to him.”
The other man accused of murder in Jahi Mishoe’s death is 22-year-old Ces’Swaun Simmons, who’s still in jail on $250,000 bond.
