CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A man convicted of assaulting an 8-year-old girl was sentenced this week by an Horry County jury.
The release from the 15th Circuit Solicitors Office says jurors deliberated for about an hour Thursday before convicting Leslie Leroy Davis of first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Judge Benjamin Culbertson sentenced Davis to 30 years in prison. Davis is not eligible for parole and will serve his entire sentence.
The trial started Monday with jury selection and lasted through most of the week. According to the solicitor’s office, the victim, who is now 11 years old, testified in the trial against Davis.
Davis was already a registered sex offender after he was convicted of raping another unrelated child in New York in 1986.
“Convictions like this are especially meaningful because they give justice to a child victim of rape and protect other children from sexual predators.” Leigh Andrew stated in the press release. “We are grateful to the Horry County Police Department and SLED for their assistance in the prosecution of this case.”
