CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police Department arrested a Conway man after he reportedly contacted several elderly women as part of a scam soliciting money claiming he needed to go see a dying relative.
The Conway Police Department began an investigation March 17 after two victims reported having been contacted by the suspect, Timothy Andrew Cook, 43, of Conway. Lt. Selena Small says Cook asked for money to go see a dying relative.
Cook reportedly made contact with one victim on March 2 and the other on March 17. Investigators say that Cook was calling several elderly women and giving them false information to solicit money from them. Conway Police issued a warrant for Cook’s arrest.
Cook is currently at J Reuban Long Detention Center.
