CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW and AP)- Many Charleston churches plan to simultaneously ring their bells on Sunday morning in memory of the victims of the Emanuel AME church shootings.

To support that effort, the City of Conway is requesting that churches in the Conway community ring their church bells at 10:00 am on Sunday, June 21st in memory of the victim and encouragement to the people of Charleston.

Congregation members say the historic black church where nine people were killed is going to re-open for Sunday morning service.

Cassie Watson said Saturday that the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal church will open at 8:30 a.m. for Sunday school and 9 a.m. for a service.

Authorities say 21-year-old Dylann Roof fatally shot nine people at the church on Wednesday night.
