Conan Gasque

Like many American boys, Conan Gasque grew up dreaming of becoming a professional athlete.

The sport didn’t matter. During football season, he dreamed of lifting the Lombardi trophy; during baseball season, he imagined winning a World Series.

But by middle school, Conan had come face-to-face with a harsh reality: he just wasn’t especially athletic. He was far more talented as a writer. That’s when his dream of becoming a sports journalist was born.

Years later, Gasque is living that dream while serving as the Sports Director at WBTW News13 – the same station he watched while growing up in Latta. Since joining News13 as the Weekend Sports Anchor in 2009, Gasque has covered some of the biggest events in sports – from the Masters to the Orange Bowl to the Bojangles Southern 500. He took over as Sports Director in December of 2013.

He’s also reported for “The Blitz” high school football show and covered numerous stories about the great athletes of the Pee Dee and Grand Strand. He began his television career as a photographer at News13 in 2006 before working as a news reporter at News 14 Carolina in Fayetteville, N.C. from 2007-09. He’s also worked in radio and play-by-play and served as a part-time sportswriter at The (Florence) Morning News.

Gasque enjoys serving the people of his community and takes great pride in providing them with the latest information about their favorite teams and sports.
