MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Pelicans Stadium was a bit more colorful Sunday as hundreds of runners came out for the Color Burst 5K.
Athletes circled the stadium and weaved through the parking lot while getting blasted with paint along the way.
Organizers say the colors are non-toxic and can be easily washed off. The fun attracted runners who wouldn’t otherwise run a 5K race.
“It’s strictly color based running. I just think they’re more fun to do so that why I do them, everyone’s in like a good mood, it’s a good atmosphere. You’ve got colors everywhere, it makes you happy. Bright things you know?” said Anna Cavin, a runner from Surfside Beach.
Around 800 runners came out for Sunday’s event.
Money raised will benefit the Tidelands Health Foundation.
